Toshiba Satellite P205-S237 Defective![]() Navigation: Main page Author: Sherry I bought a 17' screen Toshiba Laptop at Circuit City. It always ran very slowly, but I didn't think it was the computer until I read other reports of people having the same problem. A few months after the warranty expired in 2008, the backlight started going out. It had to be set at a 45 degree angle or it is totally black. Also, the fan has stopped working. I called Toshiba because after researching on the net, I found many others with the same problem. They acted like they never heard of it; refused any help. I called my computer guy and he said it was too expensive to fix; would have to be shipped to the manufacturer; does not know when it will go completely out. I called Toshiba again (about 3 months later) thinking perhaps they had gotten so many calls they decided to do the right thing. Wrong. Second verse, same as the first. I told them they may think they are saving money by not standing behind what is obviously a manufacturing defect but in the long run they will lose, becuase I will not buy another Toshiba ever, as I'm sure the other victims will not. I don't know how to stop all my information from being lost and this monitor could go totally out any moment. They do not care. This was an expensive computer and I trusted the Toshiba name. They couldn't care less. Don't buy Toshiba as this is a common problem with all their laptops/notebooks, as well as running very slowly. They refuse to acknowledge it and if you call they will act as though you are the first person who ever complained about it.
