It was late when we arrived at the Super 8 on 20 Birmingham Hwy in Chattanooga. I wasnt expecting much from a Super 8 but there was no vacancy anywhere else. I couldnt help but notice the worn out and dated carpet on our way up to the room. Upon entering the room there was an obvious smell that could only be described as offensive. Trying to make the best of a bad situation we told ourselves that we would get used to it. There was an old worn out chair in the corner that was so dirty it looked as if a mechanic had sat down on it and gotten oil/dirt stains on it. Peeling back the sheets on the comforter revealed yet another fresh hell. We had requested a non smoking room, yet it was clearly a room used for smoking, as attested to by the numerous cigarette burns in the comforter, as if that wasnt bad enough, I noticed the brown sheets, which seemed odd to me, until I realized they werent brown, that was just the stains. I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a shower, but realized I was probably not going to come out of that shower any cleaner. Still trying to hold on to my quickly evaporating optimism that we had seen the worst, I decided to turn the air down. I cant say that I was surprised, but the sound of the running air conditioner sounded not unlike an idling semi truck. Turning our attention to the tv, we noticed an advertisement for HBO and thought we might catch a movie. Not so, as the advertised HBO was non existent. After kicking off the filthy comforter we decided to TRY and get some sleep, but the pervasive smell, the unshakeable fear of what the stains on the bed really were, and the running semi truck in the room that was our air conditioner, made it virtually impossible. We made a complaint on the website, and was told we would be getting a refund, well we got the refund, a whole $17.00 after paying $87.00 to spend the night in a dump. I dont know how much good this review will do, but if anyone is reading this, and I hope someone is, DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE. If you have to sleep in your car in the parking lot of walmart, do that instead, it would certainly be a lot nicer than this landfill. What this place really needs, is a couple of bulldozers and a wrecking ball.
