Divine 21 commented on 31 Dec 2011, 07:54:39 I am writing to disagree about the story that i read about Mr. Peter Fokum. He is a very good man and has helped so many young intelligent students from Cameroon to study in the united States. He does had a contract with University of Central Oklahoma where he helps international students to gain admission and guides students on what is requires to secured a student visa. Today many international graduates are Nurses, accountants, pharmacists. This is all thanks to his continues assistance in guiding them through their academic works. The fees he charges for his services are very minimal and are mostly for postage of the documents through DHL postal services, admission and assistance such as counseling given to students.
All admission documents( Form I-20) from the school are very authentic and students can always call the school to verify about the authenticity of the admission documents. There is nothing as scam. The university number is on the admission documents and students can always call if they have any concern or questions. When calling the school, make sure to have your school id number which is on the admission documents handing. Selection of students are base on academic performance at both the Ordinary Level, Advance Level Results and Financial back ground. Scholarships are available for students with good academics result.
2,I am responding to the accusation against Peter Fokum. I am a
student at the University of Central Oklahoma, also from Cameroon .An
I-20 does not equate a visa, and nobody can give you a visa except
the consulate. It is too bad you did not get a visa; you would
have found out that the university exist, and is doing an excellent job in
training future African citizens. Disparaging someone's character is not the
way to bounds back from a disappointment. If you did your homework, you will
have found out that the address and number of the school and the international
office will be glad to answer any questions you have. This is my third semester
in the school, and I am a proof against what you claim, meanwhile I will advise
you to take the $50 an get an admission in the US schools as you say (Good luck).
US is an excellent country to further you studies, however, to all would- be applicants,
know that the final decision maker for an opportunity to study here is the
embassy. Your gender, beauty and money cannot give you a visa. Only the embassy
has the formula and the answer and it is a 50%.
3,With increasing demand for a Made in America degree, the demand for F1 Visas to study in America has increased dramatically across the globe and Africa is not an exception. However, making the contacts and assembling the right paperwork to qualify for a Visa can very challenging if not impossible sometimes. For example, in the west African nation of Cameroon, the quality of Higher Education in the areas of Science and Medicine leaves a lot to be desired due to lack of infrastructural development. So, if you are perspective international student, where do you start? You will need someone in the United States who is very dedicated to your case and most of the time, relatives and friends can help if they know what they are doing but if you don't have that kind of luxury, enter the expert of International Student liaison. His name is Fokum Peter. With a fee ranging anywhere from about $500 to $750 USD, Fokum Peter will help you navigate through all the complex bureaucracy of obtaining a valid form I-20, a key document required for a student Visa. However, having all the right documents doesn't necessarily guarantees you a student Visa. All perspective students still need to go through a rigorous screening process by a Consular at the local Embassy and in this case, the United Sates Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon. With money to be made, Fokum Peter has become a sort local hero in Cameroon. With his ability to navigate through this complex process, Fokum Peter has help hundreds of international students to come to the United States for College, most of whom are majoring in Nursing. Nevertheless, this has not been without controversies. There are some students who have received all the right documents through Fokum Peter and were not granted a student Visa leading to all kinds of accusations of extortion. The fact is that Fokum Peter is only a liaison and having all the right paperwork doesn't necessarily guarantees you a Visa especially in the post 9/11 period. At the end the day, is up to the student to convince the Consular officer why they should be allowed into the United States for College. While the International student office maybe willing to help the perspective student, they are really not diplomats and most of them don't even own Passports and have never crossed any international boundaries and that is where Fokum Peter comes in. Form I-20s generally issued free of charge by the college but the process thus takes alot of time and money. International phone calls are not cheap and neither is FEDEX or UPS
The fact is that most of these students show up in America and there is no one to even pick them up at the Airport and Fokum Peter will have to help oriented them in America to get them fully ready for College and the list goes on.
In addition, I want to also state here that Mr Fokum Peter is an advocate for education and is well known for his philanthropic works both in the Diaspora and in Cameroon. He has sponsored scholarships, local Soccer tournaments, donated books and pencils to schools in North West Cameroon. He is key Patron of BANSA(The Bali Student Association) and many more.
