Let me first say hind site is 20/20. I got a call saying I needed to contact attorney's Bailey and Fuller because they were going to be taking out a lean on property for debts my boyfriend owed. So I called (first hint they didn't answer using Baily & fuller)on the 3rd call when I asked why the "lawyer" said they transferd me to his office. Any when asked what this was about he said it was a dept from 1999 -2002 told me the payment amount each month but could not tel me what it was for just kept telling me it was for some kind of computer, electronics or possible appliace.
I said no way we got together in 01 and I would remeber a payment in that amount but I will call and ask the boyfriend. He didnt' remember a loan like that and that he would remember a 300 a month payment. He wanted proof! The "lawyer" said that the only way to find out exactly what it was, was to go to court and they would be able to tell us but then there would be a lean on the house and we would have to pay 5,000 and the original bal was 2,600 but with court costs and all. My other half still wanted proof but the "lawyer" was so convincing talking about cees and desist orders, and all kinds of legal talk that I paid 1600 with my credit card...then like an idiot pulled his credit report there was nothing even on there about this. I wonder can I sue them to get my money back??. because they had me pay a debt I didnt' even owe by scaring me. I know I should have been smarter. I will next time.
