Driver's Choice![]() Navigation: Main page Author: Had a vehicle ... On October 25, 2010 I purchased a 2006 Chrysler Sebring VIN # 1C3EL55R66N259111 from the salesman at Driver's Choice. My total deposit for the vehicle was $2,785 with a $1000 deposit that I paid cash on 10/25 (I could take the vehicle home) and on 10/27 would pay the balance of $1785. I took the vehicle for a test drive and felt the brakes needed to be changed. When I pressed down on the brakes the car shook and I informed Driver's Choice. We made a verbal agreement that I would take the vehicle to be inspected by a mechanic and if something was wrong with the vehicle he would fix the issue or I would return the vehicle. I parked the vehicle 10/25-10/28 at the Airport and upon my return the vehicle would not turn on. My insurance company sent Pop-A-Lock to give my battery a boost. I called Driver's Choice and informed him of the situation and he told me he would get a new battery. I took the vehicle to Joel Automotive on 10/28 to have a full diagnostic and paid $42.60 and was informed the front and back brake pads needed to be replaced and there was a serious oil leak. I returned to Driver's Choice 10/28 at 3:30pm and spoke with the owner and explained the situation. He wanted me to pay the remaining balance of $1785 and he would take the vehicle down the street to a mechanic however, I couldn't go along and he would have the battery replaced and have the vehicle inspected for the issues I told him about. I told him I wanted to go to the mechanic too and if I were to pay the deposit I wanted a promise to fix the issues letter with his signature and he refused. Eventually the conversation escalated when he heard me speaking with my attorney for advice, he got into the vehicle started to throw my possessions out of it onto the street, screaming at me, yelling profanity, refused to return my license plates and threatened for me to get out of the way or he would run me over and to consider the car a $1000 rental. I called 911 and had the sheriffs meet me at the location to retrieve my license plate. I returned a second time and called the sheriffs department once more to retrieve the vehicle contract from the glove compartment. On 10/28 I called the bank the vehicle was financed with and informed them Driver's Choice took the vehicle and I was told no such account # existed, there was no record of me in their system. I am now short $1000.
