My mother, accompanied by a close family friend, went to Arrowhead Honda to buy a car. She was upset from just having been in an accident, and her friend went to help her find a car and negotiate a price. They found the car and agreed to the price: $10,000. (It is a modest little Hyundai.) After taxes, the total price was a little over $11,000. My mother was prepared to pay $5,000 down and finance the balance.

Once the price was agreed to by everyone, my mother's friend had to leave to attend a meeting, and was assured by the salesperson/sales manager that they would write the paperwork up as agreed and get my mother on her way. Instead, they added on the following charges: 100,000 mile warranty - $2,000; Alarm - $995; Paint and Fabric Sealer - $895; Maintenance Agreement - $225; Theft System - $500; Dealer Document Fee - $369; and Fees to government officials - $185.25.

My mother, who was confused, believed that these were free, so she agreed to everything and signed the paperwork. They took her $5000 down-payment and applied it to all this nonsense (which, conveniently, totaled around $5,000) and they financed the entire price of the car on a 5-year loan for 6.9% interest.

They could see that my 79-year-old mother was in a confused state and completely took advantage of her after her friend was gone. We will pursue any and all avenues until Arrowhead Honda makes this right.

Please warn everyone to stay clear of this dealership.
